Introduction

In our previous episode, we delved into the fears many mothers face, with a common concern being the fear of not succeeding at breastfeeding. It's a daunting thought for many, as they wish to provide the best for their babies. I felt the same way, but I'm here to guide you on how to embark on this journey with the best start for exclusive breastfeeding success.

Focus on God, Not Fear

Are you a Christian woman seeking a joyful pregnancy and birth, centered on God rather than medical tests? Feeling like the birth you dream of is unattainable and tired of being treated as an "accident waiting to happen"? You're not alone. My name is Lori, and I host "Your Birth God's Way." With experience spanning over 20 years in the conventional maternity system and now as a certified nurse midwife, I once stood in your place, unsure of achieving the birth God intended for me.

A Community of Support

I'm thrilled to announce the launch of our new Facebook community where like-minded, God-loving mamas come together. This sisterhood offers a supportive space where we share mutual aspirations, tackling pregnancies and births in a God-inspired manner. Overcoming Breastfeeding Fears

The concern over failing at breastfeeding is prevalent among new mothers. Society's perception often discourages public breastfeeding, creating a taboo. Stories abound about breastfeeding struggles, designed more to scare than support you. However, failure stories shouldn't lead to guilt; they should inspire preparation for next time. Women are inherently designed to breastfeed, and with preparation, this natural process can flourish.

Preparation is Key

Having been in the maternity field for years before having my children, I knew the power of preparation. It wasn’t merely about professional knowledge but practical preparation—reading, mindset alignment, and ensuring everyone around me supported my breastfeeding journey.

How did this translate to success? It’s all about preparation—understanding God’s design and utilizing the gifts he has provided. Preparation should happen well before the baby arrives, setting you up to embrace the gift of breastfeeding as naturally as possible.

Recommended Reading: "Breastfeeding Made Simple"

A crucial tool in my preparation was the book "Breastfeeding Made Simple" by Nancy Mohrbacher. This book breaks down breastfeeding in straightforward, tactical ways, invaluable even for the most medically untrained mom. Whether before birth or during those initial stages, having this as a reference will prepare you mentally and practically.

Mindset Matters

Breastfeeding, like natural birth, requires the right mindset. Society makes it easy to quit, but embracing a can-do attitude is crucial. Watch inspirational ‘breast crawl’ videos, which showcase the natural instincts God instilled in babies to help them nurse. Trust these instincts and combat the societal pressures encouraging formula over breastfeeding. Remember, discomfort isn't a necessity in breastfeeding—it’s about mutual capability between mother and child.

Conclusion

Prepare before birth—read, learn, and envelop yourself in positive affirmation. Equip yourself with resources and embrace God's flawless design for nurturing our children. Preparation coupled with understanding creates confidence in this beautiful journey. Join our community to share and learn from other mamas, so together we embrace God's best for our families.
