Your Birth, God's Way Blog/Pregnancy/Empowering Christian Moms: Takeaways from the Twins Breech Conference

Prefer to listen? Here's the audio!

To those of you who listen to my podcast regularly, I want to give you a little disclaimer before this episode starts. The audio isn’t great. I recorded this episode while driving home from the Twins Breech Conference that I attended this past weekend in Louisville, Kentucky. I had a microphone on and thought it would sound okay, but it really sounds like I recorded it on the road.

So, I just ask for your grace on this one. I didn’t want to rerecord because I was flowing with so many thoughts and ideas that were popping into my head, and I didn’t want to start from scratch. So please forgive me for the audio quality—and buckle up!

There might be a few ups and downs in volume, but I promise it’ll be worth your time. So don’t turn it off—just turn it down a little if needed and listen in.

Three Powerful Takeaways from the Twins Breech Conference

Hey Mama, I’m coming to you from the road today, driving home after an incredible weekend at the Twins Breech Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. I spent four days surrounded by legends in the birth world—learning, connecting, and growing. I want to share a few takeaways with you that truly inspired me.

1. A Breech Baby Doesn’t Mean a C-Section
If you’re in your third trimester and find out your baby is breech, it’s not the end of your dream for a natural birth. You don’t automatically have to sign up for a C-section. You just need to find a provider who is skilled in vaginal breech birth.

After spending four days with more than a hundred birth professionals—midwives, doctors, educators—I was amazed at how many people are out there actively learning, training, and safely supporting breech births. There are providers who have caught hundreds, even thousands, of breech babies.

Safety isn’t just about a live mom and baby—it’s about long-term health. A C-section might seem safer in the moment, but it can bring complications in future pregnancies. With proper training and informed choice, vaginal breech birth can be a safe, beautiful, and empowering option.

If you ever find yourself in that position, know that you have options. You don’t have to hand over your power or your choices.

2. Not All OB-GYNs Are the “Bad Guys”
This weekend gave me so much hope. Not all obstetricians fit the stereotype that many of us have come to fear. I met incredible doctors like Dr. Stu Fishbein, Dr. Milo Vera, Dr. Denny Hartung, and Dr. David Hayes—all passionate about restoring women’s choices and supporting vaginal breech births.

These doctors are learning from midwives, attending conferences on their own time, and working hard to change hospital culture from within. I even met residents—young doctors in training—who are hungry to learn hands-on skills from midwives.

It’s encouraging to see this new movement rising up. There’s a growing number of doctors who want to partner with midwives, learn from them, and bring back the lost art of physiological birth.

So Mama, take heart. There are compassionate, faith-driven professionals out there who want to see you birth safely and naturally—just the way God designed.

3. Be Wise About Data and “Standard” Hospital Tests
Another big takeaway from the conference was about how easily data can be misinterpreted—and how that affects hospital births. One example is continuous electronic fetal monitoring, which is used on almost every laboring mom in hospitals today.

These machines are good at telling you when everything’s okay, but not great at telling you when something’s wrong. The result? Many unnecessary C-sections.

Doctors often act out of fear of liability instead of true medical need. So if a baby’s heart rate pattern looks slightly “off,” even if it’s completely normal, many doctors rush to surgery. This has led to sky-high C-section rates without improving outcomes for moms or babies.

This is why it’s so important to be informed and understand your options. Evidence-based care isn’t just about data—it’s about experience, intuition, and God’s wisdom guiding every step.

The Beauty of Faith, Birth, and God’s Design

After watching countless vaginal breech births this weekend—some smooth, some requiring gentle skill—it reminded me how powerful women are. God designed our bodies to do this. Birth is not a medical emergency; it’s a divine process that can unfold beautifully when we trust His design.

There are incredible midwives, doctors, and researchers dedicating their lives to restoring faith in natural birth and proving what we already know—God’s way works.

Mama, be encouraged. You can have the birth that God intended for you. You have options. You have support. And you are stronger than you think.

If today’s message blessed you, would you head over to Apple Podcasts and leave a quick 5-star written review? It takes less than a minute and helps this message reach more mamas who need encouragement and God’s truth in their birth journeys.

Thank you so much for being here, and I’ll see you back for the next episode, Mama.
