Introduction

Pregnancy can be an incredibly daunting experience for many women, stirring up a whirlwind of fears and 'what ifs'. However, it is also an opportunity to break free from the illusion of control and focus on drawing nearer to God, the one who knows us and our babies better than we know ourselves. In this post, we'll explore how to place real faith in God during this transformative time.

Breaking the Illusion of Control

Many of us feel the pressure to ensure everything goes perfectly during pregnancy and birth, even though deep down we know that true control is beyond our grasp. As Christian women desiring a joyful pregnancy and birth experience, it's time to shift our focus from our fears to our faith. Understanding God's design and trusting in His plan is crucial

God's Way is the Best Way

I’m Lori, your guide through the journey of pregnancy and birth. As a certified nurse midwife and former skeptic trapped in the broken maternity system, I discovered a timeless truth: God's way is the best way. His design for pregnancy and birth isn't just perfect; it's powerful. It's designed to bring health and joy to this fleeting season of life.

Connecting to Our Creator

In moments of doubt, remember that God made everything from scratch. By observing nature and its intricate details, we witness His invisible attributes. Romans 1:20 and Psalm 19:1 remind us that God's creations declare His glory. Just as He sustains the world, He also sustains us and our babies.

Trusting in God's Plan

The Psalms and Acts reinforce that God knew us before we were born and formed our inward parts (Psalm 139:13-16). Jeremiah 1:5 gently reminds us that God’s knowledge and care extend back to the beginning of time. As we recognize His omnipotence, we can surrender the false sense of control and lean entirely on Him.

The Work God Is Doing

Reflect on the miraculous work happening within you. God is the remarkable Architect forming your baby. Ecclesiastes 11:5 illustrates that just as we don't understand the wind or the growth of a baby's bones, we can't fathom God's wondrous works. Trust that He is at work, nurturing your child in ways beyond your comprehension.

Understanding Birth Through Spiritual Eyes

Birth is more than a physical process; it's a divine dance orchestrated by God. Psalm 71:6 and 29:9 illustrate how God brings us from the womb. Just as His voice commands nature, it also facilitates the miracle of birth. No intervention or worry can compare to His masterful plan.

Steps to Reaffirm Your Faith

1. Remember the Creator: Begin with prayer, acknowledging our Creator's hand in every life aspect.
2. Consider God's Work: Trust Him to form your baby, recognizing His sole role as the spiritual architect.
3. Reflect on God's Guidance: Understand God oversees the miracle of birth, your body, and your baby's development.

Read Matthew 6:25-34 for reassurance that our Heavenly Father cares for us more than the birds of the air. Trust and surrender to Him without anxiety over ‘what ifs.’

Moving Forward with Trust

To reinforce this mindset, I encourage you to write, “Today I will trust in the Lord and give up the illusion of control to Him.” Place it somewhere visible as a daily reminder. Seek support through our community if fear creeps back. You're not alone in this journey. Together, we can uncover the joy and peace that Christ provides.

Conclusion

In Proverbs 3:1-2 and 5-8, God instructs us to trust in Him and align our paths with His wisdom. As Philippians 4:6-7 assures us, letting our requests be known to God brings peace beyond understanding. Life's true fulfillment comes from living in accordance with His will.
Embrace the peace found in placing your trust in God. Surrender fear and rest in knowing the creator of the universe cares for you and your baby. Join me in this journey, and let’s uncover God's best for our families. Remember, you have a loving support system ready to help. Let's walk together in faith, not fear.
